The Rooted Foundation is dedicated to advancing ovarian and fallopian tube cancer research. Rooted funds cutting-edge research and promotes early detection and prevention awareness. Inspired by Holly Ray Folgia and her love of gardening, and born during her ovarian cancer journey, we are committed to cultivating a future where ovarian cancer no longer exists in women's lives.

Deep Roots. Big Impact.

ROOTED wordmark

In October, 2024, Holly Ray Folgia was diagnosed with Stage 4 ovarian cancer. Nearly 300,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year. Since then, we have learned how particularly nefarious this disease is. Its symptoms are often confusing or associated with menopause. Testing is inconclusive, and patients are often diagnosed at late stages because symptoms go unnoticed or untested. We have recently learned from our surgeon, Doctor Kara Long Roche at Memorial Sloan Kettering, that 75% of funding for ovarian research was cut with all that is going on at the federal level. An estimated 40% of overall cancer research is being cut at the federal level with current legislation under consideration. Holly was lucky-she received a clinical trial from Imunon, and she is THE FIRST patient at MSK to receive this trial. With a very long way to go, initial findings during surgery demonstrated some remarkable results. She has been an absolute warrior during the trial and the oncology team is so grateful for everything she is doing do help with the research every week.

So, Holly and I are reaching out to you, so that we can get your help and share something deeply personal and meaningful and very impactful.

We have created The Rooted Foundation. Rooted is a 501c3 dedicated to advancing ovarian and fallopian tube cancer research and prevention. Rooted will fund cutting-edge research and promotes early detection and prevention awareness. Inspired by Holly and her love of gardening, and born during her ovarian cancer journey, we are committed to cultivating a future where ovarian cancer no longer exists in women's lives.

Our first fundraising efforts have begun with the sales from Holly's first book. I Hope You Know is a children's book, written by Holly many years ago, and published during her battle with ovarian cancer. The book is a tender reflection on the parent-child relationship, told through a series of heartfelt verses that honor love, growth, and the moments that shape us. It's really good and reviews of the book have been amazing!

This book was written with to celebrate family and to support a cause that means a great deal to us. Portions of all profits will go directly to ovarian and fallopian tube cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering. There is a QR code in the book for folks to make donations directly to MSK. We have also collaborated on the book with The Break Through Cancer Foundation, who funded Holly's clinical trial and seeks to fund research and clinical trials for the 4 deadliest cancers.

We invite you to support this effort by ordering your copies of the book for your collaborators and clients, sharing it with someone who would find comfort or joy in its pages, and helping us spread the word. Our goal is to sell 500,000 copies. With your help to get the message out there, and with focused patronage, we can make an enormous impact.

The book is officially for sale. See the links below. If you are worried about clicking on these, you can search "I Hope You Know Holly Ray Folgia".
